Jimma University hosted a Validation Workshop on Academic Guidelines. The workshop, held at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine hall, brought together esteemed individuals including senate members, deans, directors, guideline developers, reviewers, distinguished academic staff members.
The primary objective of the workshop, as highlighted by Dr. Jemal Abba Fita, the President of Jimma University, was to validate a range of academic guidelines. Dr. Jemal emphasized that the guidelines address existing gaps and ensure comprehensive coverage of academic affairs and strategic issues within the university.
Dr. Tadese Habtamu, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered a welcoming speech. He extended his gratitude to the participants for their contributions in developing academic guidelines that help to facilitate the implementation of JU’s 10 years strategic plan and assist the university’s key reform initiatives.
Throughout the workshop, a total of eleven guidelines were presented. These guidelines encompassed a wide range of topics, including learning assessment, institutional e-learning, education for students with disabilities, staff professional development, and more. Each guideline was carefully examined and discussed by the participants.
The workshop concluded with a panel discussion, providing an opportunity for participants to offer their valuable comments and raise pertinent questions. This interactive session further enriched the exchange of ideas and fostered a collaborative atmosphere among the attendees.
The Validation Workshop on Academic Guidelines at Jimma University proved to be a productive platform for enhancing the university’s academic framework. By addressing key areas and incorporating valuable insights from various stakeholders, the workshop contributed to the ongoing efforts of maintaining high academic standards and achieving strategic objectives.
