The Department of Ophthalmology at Jimma Medical Centre in collaboration with the ODA Research and Development Association in Turkey, conducted a four-day campaign from May 6-9, 2024, offering voluntary free eye cataract surgery to the community in the Jimma zone and the surrounding woredas.
The ODA Research and Development Association supported the cataract surgery campaign undertaken by the department. Dr. Ahmed Zeyinudin, Chief Executive of Jimma University Institute of Health, explained that the free eye cataract surgery offered by the ODA Research and Development Association helps to address the problems related to the community’s health services.
He expressed his gratitude to the ODA Research and Development Association for sponsoring the campaign. Dr. Nawal Mohamed, a board member of the ODA Research and Development Association in Turkey, said that the organization provides free eye care services in different parts of the country, and Jimma University is one of their destinations.
