Distinguished scientist and Principal Investigator at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Dr. Berhanu Bulcha, recently delivered an awe-inspiring public speech during his visit to Jimma University. Known for his remarkable contributions to NASA in the fields of astrophysics and engineering, Dr. Berhanu’s groundbreaking work on identifying water on the moon has gained significant recognition and aligns with NASA’s space exploration missions.
During his speech, Dr. Berhanu emphasized the vital role of research, science, technology, innovation, and individual contributions in solving community problems.
He highlighted the profound impact each person can have on the lives of others and shared steps of impactfulness to leave enduring legacy for future generations.
In addition, Dr. Berhanu also briefed the audience his plan to establish a Science, Research and Technology Institute (SRTI) that creates further opportunity to work with universities like JU to capacitate the upcoming generation and foster innovativeness and creativity.
He shared his experience working with youths through his project called “Bright Generation,” impacting over 800 high school students. This project aims to bridge the gap in innovation, science, and technology in the future.
Furthermore, Dr. Berhanu promised to collaborate with Jimma University on research, innovation, and technology.

The public speech was attended by academic staff, students from Jimma University, as well as trainees from Bright Generation at Jimma University Special Secondary School, providing them with valuable insights and inspiration for their own future endeavors.
