Phase II Basic Medicines Dossier Evaluation Training organized by Jimma University in collaboration with Ethiopian Food, Medicine and Healthcare Administration and Control authority was given for pharmaceutical science professionals working at Addis Ababa University, Jimma University, Ethiopian Food, Medicine and Healthcare Administration and Control Authority (EFMHACA) and Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Association from June2-9, 2016 at Damu Hotel, Addis Ababa. The training was started by the welcoming address given by Dr Sultan Suleman, the director, Laboratory of Drug Quality of Jimma University. Following the welcoming address, opening speech was given by Ms Heran Gerba, Deputy Director General of Food, Medicine and Healthcare Administration and Control Authority. Ms Heran Gerba in her speech underlined the role of trained pharmaceutical science professionals in pharmaceutical sector in general and pharmaceutical regulatory system in particular. In addition, Ms Heran briefed the role of collaboration with national and international stakeholders for the development of pharmaceutical sector in Ethiopia. Following her speech, Dr Sultan Sulemn, clearly addressed the objective of the training and the commitment of Jimma University to work in collaboration with stakeholders in different areas such as research, training and community services.
The training encompassed evaluation of the trainees by giving pre-test and post-test, practical session of medicines dossier evaluation and lecture presentations given in different topics which are basic for medicines dossier evaluation. At the end of the training, discussion was made on the the general aspect of training quality. Finally, Ms Heran, Deputy Director General of EFMHACA, Dr Sultan Sulemn, Director of JuLaDQ, and Mr. Habtamu Beyene, Director of Licensing and Registration of EFMHACA gave closing remarks and awarded the certificate for the trainees who successfully completed the training.
