October 4-6, 2019: The Department of Ophthalmology of Jimma University conducts free Cataract Surgeries for 184 patients for three days. The Cataract Surgery Campaign the department has undertaken was supported by the Himalayan Cataract Project and involves free lunch for the patients.

Jimma University would use this opportunity to thank Himalayan Cataract Project (HCP) for sponsoring the campaign, and other organizations such as Light for the World (LFTW), Vision Care Service Ethiopia, Orbis International, and Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) who provided different supports; including capacity buildings trainings (Subspecialty and short term trainings) for the staffs, donation of equipment and consumable materials for static and outreach services.

The University also expresses its gratitude to all Ophthalmology Department Staff members who engaged in the intensive campaign for three consecutive days—thank you for giving light to the patients.
