On November 2023, Jimma University and YOLK Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the aim of ensuring the sustainable operation of a Solar Energy project in rural coffee farm communities within the Oromia region for the next 4 years. The primary objective of this collaboration is to establish a strong partnership between YOLK, Coffee Farmers, and Jimma University.
Both YOLK Korea and Jimma University recognize the significance of sustainable energy solutions and have come together to work on a transformative project that focuses on climate change adaptation and mitigation in rural areas of the Oromia Region, Ethiopia. YOLK’s solar energy technologies will be utilized in this initiative, designed to empower communities and promote educational development.
The project’s approach involves integrating Solar Energy Systems with YOLK’s coffee initiatives. This integration aims to not only address energy challenges but also enhance coffee farming practices. By establishing this strategy, the project seeks to create opportunities for local farmers in the communities where Solar Energy Systems are installed to access the global coffee market, thereby promoting economic empowerment and sustainability.
