As part of fostering international collaborations, a delegation from Jimma University (JU), led by Dr. Jemal Abafita, the President of JU, engaged in a successful discussion with the Ethiopian Ambassador to China, Mr. Tefera Derebew. The meeting, held at the Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing-China, focused on exploring opportunities of cooperation between JU and Chinese higher education institutions and research centers.During the meeting, Dr. Jemal provided a comprehensive overview of JU highlighting its strengths and areas of excellence. He emphasized the university’s keen interest in partnering with Chinese counterparts in diverse areas, including Health, Agriculture, Technology, and Education. He further expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the embassy.
Ambassador Tefera Derebew appreciated Jimma University’s proactive approach in reaching out to the embassy and seeking support for their partnership initiatives. He acknowledged the university’s commitment to academic excellence and expressed his willingness to promote collaboration between JU and Chinese institutions. The ambassador assured the delegation of the embassy’s wholehearted support in establishing fruitful connections with Chinese counterparts.
The meeting was concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism about the potential for future collaborations. This endeavor is expected to open doors for joint research projects, faculty exchanges, and knowledge sharing between Jimma University and Chinese educational and research institutions.
