Cisco Systems promoted Jimma University Cisco Academy to Academy Support Center(ASC) for Ethiopia and Somalia as of 2015.
Since then, the ASC has been managing all Cisco Academies throughout Ethiopian and Somalian universities, colleges and NGOs.
The center has been managing more than 90 Cisco Academies and serves as the only instructor training center to give Training of Trainers (ToT) and certify instructors to teach within the academic system.
Jimma University ASC achieved the Premier status in 2021 and 2022 for positive student growth by being in the top 15% of ASCs during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic.
On May 16, Cisco Academy program celebrated its 25th year anniversary in Paris, France. Jimma University was awarded as the top ASC in Africa along with another ASC in Kenya. The ASC received the “Be the BRIDGE 2023 Award” for its outstanding performance in supporting Cisco academies in Ethiopia and Somalia and achieving a significant growth in student numbers in 2021 and 2022.
