The Jimma University leadership and GKEN-EDMA network recently convened to explore strategies for reinvigorating their ongoing partnership and long-standing collaboration. The president of Jimma University, Dr. Jemal Abafita, and Professor Amare Desta, the general manager of GKEN-EDMA, led the conversation.
Three main areas of cooperation were the focus of the discussions. Firstly, they explored opportunities to expose JU staff and postgraduate students to new theories and research through monthly events. This aims to enhance the academic and research capabilities of the university community.
The second idea that was addressed by the partners was “Helping to grow,” which focuses on integrating the work of the university with the expertise and resources of the GKEN-EDMA network. This synergistic approach is expected to ultimately benefit the local community.
“Sharing the Future,” which highlights the production of social impact through creative educational initiatives, in which again emphasizes the creation of social impact through innovative educational strategies., was the third area of concentration. Both organizations are dedicated to using this platform for collaboration to promote positive change in the area.
“This discussion marks an important step in strengthening the longstanding partnership between Jimma University and GKEN-EDMA,” stated the president of JU. “We are excited to explore new avenues of cooperation that will advance research, empower our students, and create meaningful community impact.”
In the upcoming months, the two organizations have committed to implementing specific action plans and monitoring the areas of partnership that have been agreed upon.
