“If all this was not here, what would have become of us? Where would my son have gone to be treated? Now I am happy and optimistic about the future.” -Kassahun Mengistu, JUMC Parent

Kassahun’s son Dawit, age two, is just one of an estimated 6,000-8,000 children with new cases of cancer each year in Ethiopia. When his son was diagnosed, Kassahun was devastated; the cancer was curable, but he had no money for the lengthy and expensive treatment. Through The Aslan Project, however, he had hope. From the day they arrived at Jimma University Medical Center’s pediatric cancer unit, founded and operated by Aslan in partnership with Jimma Universtiy, Dawit has received high-quality treatment at no cost.
