The Annual Milk Run Job Fair was held at Jimma University on June 22, 2024.
Jimma University hosted its annual Milk Run Job Fair, an event aimed at connecting recent graduates with prospective employers. The job fair was organized by the African Jobs Network in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Skills, the MasterCard Foundation, and Jimma University.
In his welcome address, the President of Jimma University, Dr. Jemal Abafita, highlighted the institution’s status as one of the oldest and pioneering research universities in the country. He expressed the university’s goal of becoming independent in the future and emphasized its national mission of graduating a large number of students each year. The president stated that the job fair would provide a valuable opportunity for both employers and graduates to connect.
Mr. Mekonen Mengesha, the Training and Development Manager at African Jobs Network, delivered the opening remarks. He explained that the company, along with its partners, had organized the 2016 job fair to facilitate the employment of new graduates who met the requirements set by participating employers. The event was designed to directly connect students graduating from universities with potential employers.
More than 50 employers with available job openings attended the annual job fair, providing ample opportunities for the graduates to explore and secure employment.
