KU Leuven has donated a High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) to Jimma University School of Pharmacy

Jimma and KU Leuven University: KU Leuven has donated a High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) to Jimma University School of Pharmacy. This HPLC instrument was received from Prof. Pieter Annaert, Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences at KU Leuven, Belgium. Mr. Getahun B. Abza (PhD Researcher at KU Leuven and Lecturer at Jimma University) has made a huge effort in facilitating the donation and shipment of the instrument to Ethiopia. The equipment is worth more than $15,000 and it has a system designed for a wide variety of applications in analyzing experimental or biological samples with complex matrices in the field of preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetic research.

The donation of this analytical instrument was celebrated at Jimma University Institute of Health (IH) on March 24th, 2023. On this occasion, Dr. Tadesse Habtamu, Vice President for Academic Affairs, appreciated this contribution and committed to facilitating the necessary conditions for the functioning of the instrument. Dr. Ahmed Zeynudin (CED, Vice President of Health Institute) also expressed his heartfelt appreciation for this generous donation that will be put to use to improve health research capacity and have an impact on society.

High level leadership of the university including Dean of Faculty of Health Science, Director of Research and Innovation, Director of the School of Post-Graduate Studies, and faculty members of the School of Pharmacy were present at the event. On behalf of Prof. Pieter Annaert, Mr. Getahun Befirdu handed over the donated instrument and its accessories to the School of Pharmacy, Jimma University.
