Background: Physiotherapy abbreviated as PT is a health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention. Physiotherapists treat a wide range of conditions; particularly those conditions associated with the neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardio-vascular and respiratory systems of individuals of all age groups.
Vision, Mission & Objectives: To prepare competent, compassionate, respectful, and caring autonomous physiotherapists who can provide physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, and intervention/rehabilitation services at community and health facility levels with a focus on restoring healthy body system function.
Strategic Directions: 

  1. To enable physiotherapy graduates to deliver good physiotherapy outcomes for people in Ethiopia and beyond through effective, evidence-based physiotherapy practice
  2. To foster professional, ethical and principled physiotherapy graduates who are competent in inter professional collaborative practice.  
  3. To cultivate humanism in physiotherapy students in order to provide compassionate, respectful and caring services following the principles of Whole Person Care.
  4. To enable physiotherapy students to focus on and meet national professional priorities and public health needs in Ethiopia.
  5. To prepare physiotherapy students to become health leaders, communicators, educators and lifelong learners who are prepared for postgraduate education.
