Resident Program Director
The overall coordination of the program in terms of academic activities, rotation, and correspondence, record keeping, among other things will be generally the responsibilities of the Program Director.
The Program Director will closely work in collaboration and consultation with the head of the department. The duties and responsibilities of the program director would include:

  • Prepare an acceptable academic plan for the year and get it approved by the department of anesthesiology.
  • Prepare advertisement and announcement, in collaboration with the office of registrar, for recruitment of new group of trainees to apply for residency.
  • Make necessary communication to new applicants and facilitate the process to sit for entrance exam. 
  • Coordinate the preparation of the written exam and assign department members for interviews of new applicants.
  • Present to the department of anesthesiology and get approval for the list of accepted candidates based on their examination results and other admission criteria.
  • Prepare academic rotations for residents.
  • Make necessary communications to other departments where the trainees are to be assigned.
  • Make sure that all residents get registered for the courses for the year and collect a registration slip sealed and signed by the registrar before assignment to the next year.
  • Prepare a serially numbered record file for each trainee to keep all personal records, communications, and progress results separately.
  • Introduce new trainees to the department and make them aware of the curriculum and its content.
  • Assign residents to weekly seminar and get lists posted at the beginning of each month and follow the conduct of the seminars.
  • Collect all progress reports of residents at the end of each placement and keep in a personal record file of the trainees.
  • Collect and compile exam questions.
  • Prepare a final cumulative grade to the department of anesthesia and get it approved.
  • Submit approved results to the office of the registrar after keeping a copy of the record file of each trainee.
  • Receive any compliant, request or appeal by any individuals or group of trainees and process to the solution accordingly with necessary communication and discussion with the trainees or other bodies.
  • Facilitate to have rotation in other institutes. 
  • Arrange and facilitate for guest visitors and instructors to give courses or guest lectures to the residents whenever required.
  • Invite external examiners in consultation with the department and make all the required arrangement and facilitation.

Educational Supervisor

  • Assigned to each trainee and follows their academic performance
  • Advise and, if necessary, arrange counseling service for the trainee

Chief Resident
The chief resident will be assigned at the end of the 2nd year, based on academic performance and personal behavior of the resident. The assigned chief resident is expected to have an overall supervisory role on the activities of all of the other residents including preparation of academic and clinical rotations. The chief resident shall officially delegate a capable resident from the same level to take over during absence for any reason.
Other residents are expected to fully cooperate and accept the assignment given by the chief resident. In case the chief resident is denied this necessary cooperation and other residents fail to accomplish their assignments given by the chief resident, then he/she must be reported to the program coordinator and department of anesthesia for necessary disciplinary measures.
