About the Department

Background:
Department of nutrition and dietetics is one of department found in the faculty of public health. The department was one of the units in the department of population and family health till 2019. The department is currently delivering different courses for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. There are MSc and PhD programs in the department.
Vision:
The department of nutrition and dietetics aspires to be center of excellence in nutrition research, training and service and envisages seeing Ethiopian population free of nutritional problems and being citizens with enhanced intellectual development and physical capacity to contribute to development of the country. 
Mission:
To provide a student-focused learning environment that allows nutrition students to develop their potential in becoming competent researchers who can createand shares knowledge to ensure a safe, healthy and the well-being of people and the environment. 
Objective:
The program aims to provide comprehensive training in nutrition focusing on the research. It is an integrated programme covering dietary, epidemiological, public health, social and biological aspects of nutrition science. Concentration areas include nutrition in the life cycle, nutrition in emergencies, nutrition programme planning and intervention and nutritional epidemiology.
