Master in Logistics and Transportation Management, under department of management, was opened in 2016 with prime goal of producing qualified Logistic and Transport Managers for contribution of transport sector of the country. Till now the program has graduated its first, second and third batch students. However, in order to go with the dynamic change of the environment it required to revise the curriculum and change the name of the program from “Mater of Art in Logistics and Transportation Management” to “Master of Art in Logistics and Supply Chain Management(LSCM)”. The rationale behind revising the curriculum andthe name of the program are:
- The dynamites of the environment require to update the curriculum by scanning the environment
- Logistics and supply chain management by its nature connect internal functions of an organization with other organizations within the countries or around the globe. The
- concept of transportation is incorporated by the logistics and supply chain management.
- Now a day’s industrial manufacturing firms and others are increasingly seeking well educated personnel for positions such as supply chain managers, logistics managers, operations excellence developers and procurers.
- The workforce of today and tomorrow demands a higher level of skill people who grasp complex problems, understand technology and troubleshoot problems in the
- supply chain scenario.
- Also transportation firms, as well as logistics service providers such as management consulting firms, port industries and custom brokers, now recognizing the need for
- personnel with specialist skills within this area of logistics and supply chain management in the international dealings.
- The revised curriculum is expected to response to the demand pressure from various stakeholders in the profession of logistics and supply chain management.

required managerial and technical know-how to successfully manage the supply chain that links the acquisition of resources, transformation and delivering of value created to end users.Hence, the MA degree in Logistic and Supply Chain Management is designed to address the human resource need of public and private in Ethiopia.
Graduate Profile
An MA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management intends to produce professionals who are
believed to be engaged in the following key occupational tasks:
- Designing focal firms’ Supply Chain Management
- Making a value chain analysis across firms and different stages in the supply chain
- Efficiently manage Supplier and customer relationship Management
- Effective Logistics Management practices in the forward and reverse flow of products
- Apply their analytical, managerial and technical skills effectively to tackle transport and Logistics related challenges;
- To manage integrated supply chain management systems both at national and international level
- Apply quantitative tools (Supply Chain Modeling) that enable managers to make better supply chain decisions
- Evaluate transport operations and prepare performance report for further decision making aimed at improving Transport sector of the country
Admission Requirements
- In selecting the potential candidates to join MA in logistics and supply chain management program the following criteria’s must be fulfilled.
- The candidates must successfully complete the under graduate degree in Management of any categories, engineering, pharmacy, Accounting, Economics or related fields.
- Their degree has to be accreditedfrom their respective universities and or HERQA
- A minimum CGPA is 2 point
- The candidates must appear for entrance exam and the best performers will be selected.
- Female applicants and candidates who have other relevant qualification and substantial experience will be considered for admission on a case by case basis.
Graduation Requirement
Students to qualify for graduation must take a minimum of credit hours set by the University and must accumulate CGPA of 3.00 with one “C” only. Furthermore, students are expected to
undertake Logistics and Supply Chain Management thesis and should score minimum of “satisfactory” if they have one “C”.
Duration of Study
The duration of the program is two years which has 4 semesters. If the students fail to finish
within the stated period, maximum extension of 1 semester may be given.
