US Ambassador Holds Productive Discussions with JU Leadership on Key Bilateral Issues

The US Ambassador to Ethiopia, His Excellency Ervin J. Massinga, engaged in constructive discussions with the leadership of Jimma University during an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
The discussions centered on critical areas of cooperation, including staff mobility, leadership development, internationalization, health initiatives, higher education reform, capacity building, and fostering partnerships between JU and US universities and research institutions.
Senior officials from the US Embassy and members of Jimma University’s executive team attended the meeting, exchanging insights to enhance collaboration between the two parties.
The president of Jimma University, provided an overview of JU’s key reforms and its longstanding partnership with the US Institutions .He emphasized the impact of US-supported programs on the university and the wider community, underscoring their importance in advancing education and research.
Ambassador Masainga commended Jimma University’s dedication to academic excellence and its progressive strides toward institutional autonomy. He highlighted opportunities for expanded collaboration, including faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, and health-sector partnerships, which would further internationalize JU and deepen its connections with US institutions.
The visit reinforced the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation between Jimma University and the United States, paving the way for mutual growth in higher education and healthcare.
