On March 31, 2026, Jimma University hosted a distinguished delegation from the University of Parma for an informative session on academic programs, scholarships, research collaboration and international mobility opportunities. The event drew faculty members and umerous Jimma University students, providing a valuable forum for exchange and partnership building.
The visiting delegation included Prof. Simone Baglioni, Vice Rector for Education and Professor of Sociology, Prof. Roberto Valentino, Associate Professor of Geotechnical Engineering and Deputy Director for International Cooperation and Prof. Laura Pacifici Noja, Adjunct Professor of International Cooperation & Global Health and a leading voice in sustainable healthcare systems and EU–Africa academic partnerships.
Key highlights of the session included detailed information on available scholarship opportunities and practical insights into academic mobility and exchange programs in Italy. The speakers offered clear guidance on preparing competitive applications for international funding and emphasized pathways for student and staff exchange. They also discussed concrete avenues for research collaboration between Jimma University and the University of Parma.A lively question-and-answer segment followed the presentations, giving attendees the chance to engage directly with the visiting professors. Many attendees took advantage of the Q&A to seek clarifications on application procedures, eligibility criteria, and the logistics of mobility programs, as well as to explore potential joint research projects.
