Training on fact-checking and digital safety to journalists and media professionals.

A one-day training on fact-checking and digital safety was held in Jimma University to journalists and media professionals., as part of the project “Equipping Youth with Digital Peace-building Skills for a Safer and More Inclusive Online Environment.” The project is funded by Global Affairs Canada in collaboration with Search for Common Ground and implemented by ELiDA in partnership with Jimma University.
Jimma University played a key role in organizing and hosting the training, which aimed to equip journalists with the tools to combat misinformation and online hate speech while strengthening digital peacebuilding. Media professionals from FBC, JUCR FM 102.0, and ENA attended the Training.
The sessions focused on identifying disinformation, understanding digital threats, and using online tools for fact-checking. Journalists also received practical guidance on digital safety strategies.
By supporting such initiatives, Jimma University reinforces its commitment to media literacy and digital peacebuilding, contributing to a safer and more informed online environment in Ethiopia.
