Last week, Professor Delenasaw Yewhalaw, Head of the Tropical and Infectious Diseases Research Center (TIDRC), delivered an invited lecture on “Epidemiology and Control of Leishmaniasis” to medical students at the University of Molise, Italy.
The session provided future physicians with critical insights into:
– The global burden and transmission dynamics of leishmaniasis
– Current challenges in diagnosis and treatment
– Integrated vector control strategies
– Lessons from endemic regions, including Ethiopia
Professor Yewhalaw’s lecture highlighted TIDRC’s ongoing commitment to capacity building, cross-continental scientific collaboration, and knowledge translation in the fight against neglected tropical diseases (NTDs).
