The Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ambassador Chen Hai, recently visited Jimma Town and Jimma University, marking a significant occasion as it commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Dr. Mei, a martyred Chinese medical doctor who dedicated his life to serving local communities in Ethiopia.
During his visit, Ambassador Chen discussed with Dr. Jemal Abafita, the President of Jimma University, and other executive members. They focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring various partnership opportunities in education and research. Dr. Jemal expressed his gratitude for the valuable training and seminar opportunities provided by the Chinese Embassy to numerous staffs of Jimma University.
Ambassador Chen emphasized that the spirit of Dr. Mei continues to inspire their collaborative efforts. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Chinese Embassy to work closely with Jimma University in the future, expanding partnerships in diverse areas such as capacity development and cultural exchange. This visit serves as a testament to the enduring bond between China and Ethiopia, reflecting shared values and dedication to improving the lives of local communities.
