ASPIRE Project Annual Consortium Meeting 2026 Successfully Held at Jimma University
From May 14–16, 2026 Jimma University proudly hosted the ASPIRE Project Annual Consortium Meeting, bringing together researchers, clinicians, policymakers, health authorities, and international partners from Ethiopia, Ghana, Germany, Norway, India, and beyond.
Oxford Professor Highlights Power of Data Sharing at Jimma University
On March 6, 2026, the Jimma University Clinical Trial Unit (JUCTU) hosted a public lecture titled “Unleashing the Power of Existing Data,” delivered by Prof. Philippe Guérin from the University of Oxford. He demonstrated how integrating existing clinical trial and prospective study data from various studies enables researchers to build more robust evidence, directly shaping treatment protocols and global health policies. The event brought together senior academics, researchers, and PhD candidates, concluding with active discussions on future collaborations in clinical trials, epidemiology, and career development.
Community Engagement Workshop Held in Jimma as Part of the LeAP-Ethiopia Project
A community engagement and awareness workshop took place at Jimma University, convening religious leaders, Aba Gedas, and community representatives under the LeAP-Ethiopia project. This initiative focuses on leprosy case detection and the assessment of stigma and mental health in potential hotspot areas throughout Ethiopia.
A workshop is held on the Safe and Effective Use of Antimalarial Treatment for Transmission Blockage and Radical Cure towards Malaria Elimination in Ethiopia on 15 November 2021 in Addis Ababa. The workshop was attended by 25 in person and around 15 virtual participants from the National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP) of the Ministry of Health, national, regional, and international researchers and MSC and Ph.D. students, and key national and international malaria stakeholders.
