Clinical Trial Unit
The clinical trial unit is located within the Jimma Medical Center premises. It has inpatient beds and adequate space for participant waiting, informed consent procedures, study physician and nurse offices, pharmacy store and dispensing, data storage, bio-banking, and administrative functions. The facility has emergency management kits and equipment. It has also -80°C and -20°C freezers, 2-8°C refrigerators, as well as cold boxes and portable -20°C and -80°C freezers to support fieldwork activities. The unit operates its own research lab for core services and uses Jimma University Medical Center Laboratory as backup. The unit is linked with Jimma University Medical Center, which serves a catchment area of over 20 million people and offers advanced medical services including dialysis, cardiac interventions, and radiotherapy.
