Jimma University, in collaboration with the Jimma University Clinical and Nutrition Research Partnership (JUCAN), recently held a workshop aimed at reflecting on the long journey of JUCAN, focusing on its governance, contributions, and lessons learned.
Dr. Jemal Abafita, President of Jimma University, expressed the importance of JUCAN’s experience in building an exemplary research culture and partnership. He emphasized that JUCAN has made significant contributions at the institutional, national, and international levels, including training, research infrastructure development, research partnerships, and enhancing institutional visibility. He also conveyed gratitude to Prof. Tsinuel and the entire team for their contributions during the long journey of JUCAN.
Prof. Tsinuel Girma, the founder of JUCAN, highlighted that Jimma University’s Clinical and Nutrition Project has been dedicated to health and nutrition for the past 16 years, contributing problem-solving research to policy-making.
Participants in the workshop shared their thoughts on the importance of JUCAN. Overall, JUCAN is well-positioned to thrive by leveraging opportunities arising from Jimma University’s expansion, increased research focus, and established partnerships.
