Jimma University has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) aimed at enhancing entrepreneurship education and training, incubation, research, and business development services. The agreement was signed by Dr. Jemal Abafita, President of Jimma University, and Mr. Boru Shana, Deputy Director General of EDI.
This collaboration will enable both institutions to engage in capacity-building programs, joint research initiatives, and resource sharing.
Dr. Jemal Abafita emphasized Jimma University’s strong history of partnerships with various organizations and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to research commercialization and fostering an environment conducive to innovation.

Mr. Boru Shana shared insights from EDI’s extensive experience in collaborating with different organizations on research commercialization and entrepreneurship training. He encouraged higher education institutions to leverage the products developed in their incubation centers that meet the minimum viable product (MVP) standards.
This strategic partnership is poised to make a significant impact on the country’s economic growth by cultivating an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset, creating employment opportunities, and promoting technological advancement. Both Jimma University and EDI are optimistic that their combined efforts will lead to substantial benefits for aspiring entrepreneurs and the broader community.
