Jimma University has officially kicked off its 2025 Green Legacy Initiative at Beshasha Ifa Boru Secondary School. The launch ceremony was attended by JU President Dr. Jemal Abafita, Senate members, and the Mayor of Beshasha town. The event featured the planting of coffee seedlings, underscoring the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community involvement.

During their visit, university officials also toured the school and committed to supporting several initiatives. These initiatives include improving digital access through technology and online learning resources, providing sports equipment to enhance physical education, and advancing livestock development to boost the productivity of the school’s dairy farm.
The Green Legacy Initiative will also expand to other key areas, such as the Bulbul Land Restoration Site, which aims to rehabilitate degraded lands, and the Eladale Research and Demonstration Site, focused on promoting sustainable agricultural practices through research and community training.
