Jimma University Capacity Building and Mentorship Program (JU-CBMP), in collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health and key partner institutions, successfully conducted a research validation workshop to review findings from two priority health system studies. The first study assessed the Implementation challenges of the Ethiopian Simplified Version of the International Classification of Diseases (ESV-ICD-11) for disease recording and reporting in public health facilities supported by JU-CBMP. The second study utilized secondary data to perform triangulation analysis on long-acting family planning programs with the aim of generating actionable evidence to strengthen health system performance. 
The validation workshop served as an important platform to verify, refine, and endorse research findings, ensuring their technical soundness, practical relevance, and policy applicability. Participants emphasized that such workshops are essential for aligning research outputs with national health priorities and strengthening the uptake of evidence for planning, monitoring, and decision-making. The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health, Oromia Health Bureau, Jimma zone Health Office, development partner the Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Supply Service (EPSS-Jimma Hub), Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science (CDHi), Sokoru Woreda Health Office, and Jimma University. demonstrating strong partnership and multi-level stakeholder engagement across the health system.
The workshop officially opened by Prof. Muluemebet Abera, Vice President for Research and Partnership at Jimma University and Director of JU-CBMP who highlighted the university’s mandate in research, teaching, and community service, and underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between universities, government institutions, and implementing partners.
Presentations included an overview of JU-CBMP by Mr. Asaye Birhanu findings on ESV-ICD-11 implementation by Dr. Birhane Megersa and and results of the data triangulation analysis on long-acting family planning by Mss. Bezawit Birhanu.
During the plenary discussion, Constructive feedback and recommendations were provided by partners and stakeholders, reflecting their ownership of the research process and commitment to translating findings into practice.
The event was formally concluded by Prof. Muluemebet Abera, who reaffirmed that the feedback collected will be incorporated into the final reports to improve clarity, validity, and alignment with national health priorities. She also thanked all participants for their active engagement, valuable contributions, and continued partnership in advancing evidence-based health system interventions.
