Jimma University marked a significant academic milestone on June 21, 2025, with the graduation of 3,045 students across various degree programs. Among the graduates were 2,258 males and 787 females, representing bachelor’s, master’s, PhD, and sub-specialty levels.
The ceremony recognized:
• 2,053 bachelor’s degree recipients (1,469 male, 584 female)
• 992 master’s degree and above (789 male, 203 female)
• 61 PhD graduates
• 2 sub-specialty diploma recipients
• 41 graduates from the Agaro campus, completing master’s programs for the first time
The ceremony was graced by her Excellency Alemtsehay Paulos, Chair of Jimma University’s Management Board and Minister of Cabinet Affairs at the Office of the Prime Minister. In her keynote address, she underscored the government’s commitment to cultivating a knowledgeable generation, stating, “An educated society is the foundation of a resilient economy and a prosperous Ethiopia. She urged graduates to leverage their skills to create opportunities for future generations.
Dr. Jemal Abafita, President of Jimma University, congratulated the Class of 2025 and highlighted the institution’s strides toward autonomy. “Our goal is to position Jimma University as a self-governing hub of innovation, tackling global challenges through cutting-edge research and education,” he declared.
The event not only recognized individual accomplishments but also showcased Jimma University’s pivotal role in advancing Ethiopia’s educational landscape. As graduates embark on new journeys, the university reaffirms its mission to foster leadership and sustainable development.
