Jimma University Graduates 2,973 Students

In accordance with the approval of the Jimma University Senate held on October 3, 2025, January 15, 2026, May 5, 2026, and June 25, 2026, the university has today graduated a total of 2,973 students.

At the graduation ceremony, the Head of the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Cabinet Affairs, as well as the Chairperson of the Jimma University Board of Management, Honorable Alemtsahay Paulos, attended and delivered a congratulatory message to the graduates.

She urged the graduates to utilize the knowledge they have acquired during their time at the university to build and enrich Ethiopia, and to become part of the solution for its development.

Dr. Jemal Abafita, President of Jimma University, on his part, extended his congratulations and best wishes to the students for overcoming challenges and qualifying for success without being defeated by examinations. Dr. Jemal pointed out that the university is carrying out numerous problem-solving community engagement activities and emphasized that continuing this work is the responsibility of all members of the university community. He also explained that the university is diligently working on multiple fronts—strengthening student competence, conducting research, and undertaking various efforts to become a self-governing institution.

The graduates come from various colleges and institutes, with 2,523 receiving their first degrees (1,778 male and 745 female), and 450 receiving their second degrees and above (397 male and 53 female). In total, the university graduated 2,973 students—2,175 male and 798 female.

Among these, 100 doctoral (PhD) graduates, 7 sub-specialty diploma professionals, and 119 graduates from satellite campuses who completed four undergraduate programs were included in this graduation ceremony for the first time.
