Jimma University and Huawei Launch High-Level Campus Recruitment Program

Huawei Technologies Ethiopia, in partnership with Jimma University, has officially launched a Campus Recruitment Program aimed at connecting top university talent with industry opportunities and strengthening Ethiopia’s digital workforce. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between education and the ICT sector, ensuring students graduate as industry-ready professionals.

The launch event brought together Huawei executives, university leaders, faculty, students, and alumni to discuss how academic learning translates into real-world impact. Graduates and Huawei employees shared their career journeys, offering current students firsthand insights into the ICT industry.

Dr. Jemal Abafita, President of Jimma University, called the collaboration a strategic step toward equipping students for the digital economy. Huawei’s Cuidong expressed excitement about hiring from the university, noting that talent is the cornerstone of digital transformation. Tamire Dawud, ICT Ecosystem Development Manager at Huawei, highlighted that programs like the ICT Academy, ICT Competition, and Seeds for the Future serve as direct pathways to employment.
