The College of Law and Governance at Jimma University conducted an internal validation workshop on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, to review and approve updated curricula for four of its postgraduate programs. This event brought together faculty members and academic leaders to refine the college’s offerings, ensuring they align with evolving market demands and national educational standards.
During the opening session, Dr. Teklu Gemechu, representing the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Rahel Assefa, Dean of the College, emphasized the significance of these revisions as part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic quality and relevance.The workshop featured parallel sessions, enabling the School of Law and the Department of Governance and Development Studies to delve deeply into their respective programs. The School of Law presented and validated updates to two Master of Laws programs: the LL.M. in Human Rights and Criminal Law, and the LL.M. in Commercial and Investment Law. Meanwhile, the Department of Governance and Development Studies reviewed and approved modifications to the MA in Governance and Development Studies and the MA in Peace and Conflict Studies.
By aligning its programs with the university’s reform initiatives, the college is contributing to Jimma University’s commitment to producing graduates who are well-equipped to meet contemporary professional demands and support national development goals.
