Jimma University had the distinct honor of meeting with H.E. Ambassador Alexis Lamek of France during his recent visit to Jimma. The ambassador’s engagement underscores the strengthening partnership between Jimma University and French institutions.
The visit featured a tour of the Kattaa Mudugaa Cooperative Union, a key partner in the French-Ethiopia Geographical Indications project. This initiative aims to protect the heritage of Jimma coffee while empowering local farmers, highlighting the importance of sustainable agricultural practices.
Additionally, Ambassador Lamek held productive discussions with Dr. Jemal Abafita, President of Jimma University. The dialogue centered on current and future collaborative initiatives in research, innovation, and sustainable development.
This visit reaffirms our mutual commitment to knowledge sharing and community-driven progress, paving the way for enhanced cooperation between our institutions.
