Jimma University HSMEDC and University of Oslo in cooperation with NORAD organized training on Andragogy (Adult Learning) from April 11 to April 15, 2016. The training was attended by Academic Staffs from different departments in the College of Health Sciences. The Training had the following objectives
- explain, differentiate and critique the principles, challenges and opportunities when teaching adults
- implement and evaluate opportunities for using adult learning strategies in own teaching
- implement and generate a creative teaching environment conducive to adult learning
- create a curriculum outline of a course or lecture series with examples of adult learning strategies and opportunities
The expected outcomes were Curriculum outline – for a course or lecture series in one of your topic areas with detailed plans for learner activities. Professors Per Hjortdahl and Jeanette H. Magnus from University of Oslo and Dr. Tsedeke Asaminew from Jimma University successfully facilitated the training. At the end of the training the participants presented the facilitation skills they learned to an audience. The Second round of the Andragogy Training will take place from April 18 to April 22, 2016.
