Free Cataract Surgery Campaign Kicks Off at Jimma Medical Centre

A free cataract surgery campaign has been launched at Jimma Medical Centre, which will continue for five consecutive days. The Jimma University Ophthalmology Department is conducting this campaign in collaboration with the Cure Blindness project.
Dr. Jafer Kedir, the head of the Ophthalmology Department, stated that the campaign aims to treat seven hundred people over the five days, while early diagnosis, modest surgery, and other treatments are expected to benefit more than five thousand individuals.
He added that the Ophthalmology Department (JUOD), in collaboration with other partners, has previously provided cataract treatments to the surrounding community to address the cataract problem.
