External Validation Workshop Held for 15 New Postgraduate Programs

Jimma University, in collaboration with its partners, has designed 15 new postgraduate programs that respond to the country’s needs and current technological advancements, and is now moving them toward implementation.
The newly approved master’s and doctoral programs are:
1. PhD in Health Informatics
2. PhD in Cyber Security
3. PhD in Information Systems and Digital Innovation
4. PhD in Data Science
5. PhD in Frugal Biomedical Innovation
6. PhD in Urban Sanitary Engineering
7. PhD in Artificial Intelligence
8. PhD in Mechanical Engineering – Automation and Robotics
9. PhD in Aerospace Engineering
10. PhD in Sports Management
11. PhD in Exercise Science, Health, and Fitness
12. Doctor of Business Management
13. Subspecialty in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery
14. MA in International Relations and Diplomacy
15. MSc in Physiotherapy
Guided by the theme “Ensuring Academic Excellence and Industry Relevance,” the programs aim to produce skilled Ethiopian professionals who are technologically current and globally competitive.
Dr. Tadese Habtamu, Vice President for Academic Affairs, confirmed that rigorous evaluations involving experts, scholars, and stakeholders are underway to ensure the programs meet high quality standards and reflect the latest technological developments.
Dr. Bekalu Ferede, Director of the School of Graduate Studies, added that the programs are closely aligned with Ethiopia’s development goals. He noted that graduates are expected to make meaningful contributions to the country’s growth. An external validation workshop has already been conducted to reinforce quality and relevance, and final preparations for full implementation are currently being completed.
