Jimma University has officially inaugurated the Ethiopian English Language Professionals’ Association (EELPA) in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and RELO East Africa. The event welcomed teachers from primary and secondary schools around Jimma, as well as instructors from Jimma College of Teacher Education and the English Language and Literature Department.
Well experienced professionals from Ethiopia (Dr Ashenafi Belay associate professor of literature) and abroad (Naomi public diplomacy of USA Embassy and Amira Salama from ELTA) presented their research findings and share their experience in the areas.
In his opening speech, Tadesse Habtamu, Academic Vice President of Jimma University, highlighted the importance of English language teachers in improving educational quality in Ethiopia. He noted that this association would provide opportunities for collaboration and mutual learning.
Lastly, Gemechis Teshome (Ph.D) has been elected as president of EELPA-JIMMA Oromiya with seven facilitating committee members.
