The meeting was officially opened by Dr. Jemal Abafita, President of Jimma University, who welcomed the delegates to a city rich in cultural heritage and educational development. In his address, Dr. Jemal underscored the profound alignment between the university’s mission and the project’s goals. “This meeting marks a pivotal advancement,” he stated. “Our mission has always been rooted in community-based education, impactful research, and innovation that drives national development. Hosting this consortium meeting perfectly aligns with that mission, reflecting our collective commitment to fostering resilient and responsive universities.”The gathering served as a dynamic platform for dedicated partners to engage in meaningful discussions, share insights, and collaboratively shape the future of higher education cooperation, guided by initial findings from institutional mappings.
The IMPACT HE project, fully titled “Capacity Building for Synergies, Impact Assessment and Management of International Higher Education Cooperation Funds,” aims to bolster the administrative and strategic capabilities of participating universities. The consortium is a robust partnership of 14 leading institutions from Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Kenya, and Ethiopia, alongside the ministries of education from Ethiopia and Kenya.

The meeting was highly focused on delivering concrete, actionable outcomes that will directly inform the project’s next phase. Key achievements included:

· The identification of priority training needs, ensuring that the project’s programs are precisely tailored to address real-world institutional challenges.
· Strategic preparations for the official launch of the Training Programme Development Team (TPDT), which will be tasked with creating a core curriculum for sustainable capacity building.
The event not only advanced the project’s core objectives but also significantly reinforced collaborative ties among all consortium members and the broader Ethiopian academic community.
