MSC in Industrial Economics (Regular and Extension)

Objectives of the program

The aim of this postgraduate study is developing theoretical and analytical knowledge in the area of industrial economics. The courses designed under the program provide knowledge about economic theories and technical economic applications through advanced courses.

Admission Requirements

The applicant must have completed BA/BSc degree or equivalent accredited from HERQA in Economics, Development Economics, Agricultural Economics, Natural Resources Economics, Environmental Economics, and Statistics. Variety of basic economic knowledge is required for successful completion of the program. Hence, applicants who have completed their undergraduate study in Economics and the aforementioned disciplines can join the program. Since strong Economics background is required, the applicants will be asked to write entrance examination. Besides, students may be required to document their English language proficiency when deemed necessary. 

Graduate profile

After a successful completion of the program, graduates of the program are believed to be engaged in the following tasks:

  • Conduct Scientific Research and development activities and can work in research Institutions.
  • Work as instructors in higher education institutions.
  • Give Consultancy Services.
  • Can be employed in government, non-governmental, and private organizations to work planning and economic analysis works.
  • Can start their own business.

Duration of the Program

The study program is designed to be completed in two years, four semesters. The first year has two semesters in which students take common courses in the first semester. In the second semester, in addition to common courses, specialization coursers will be offered. The study program is designed in such a way that the second year is totally devoted for dissertation and DTTP program.

Degree Nomenclature

The nomenclature of the degree award for Development Economics will be “Master of Science in Industrial Economics”. In Amharic:“የሳይንስማስትሬትዲግሪበኢንዱስቲሪኢኮኖሚክስ”.
