For Jimma University master’s and PhD students — Academic year 2026/2027
The University of Barcelona (UB), within the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) projects, has opened a call for incoming student mobility for the 2026/2027 academic year. Through inter-institutional agreements, UB offers a limited number of scholarships for study stays at UB for students from partner institutions, including Jimma University.
Who can apply?
- Registered Jimma University students enrolled in an official master’s or doctoral (PhD) programme at the time of application and who will remain enrolled during the mobility.
- Applicants must have completed at least one academic year of their current programme at Jimma University.
- Mobility must be physical (students must travel to Barcelona) and take place during the 2026/2027 academic year.
What the scholarship covers
- Monthly subsistence allowance for the duration of the stay (amounts depend on length of stay and destination).
- Travel allowance calculated by distance band.
- Illness, accident and repatriation insurance for the mobility period.

- Deadline to apply: 28 April 2026
Applications received after the deadline or incomplete will not be considered.
Application procedure (how to apply)
- Complete the online Erasmus+ application form at the University of Barcelona application portal:
https://www.ub.edu/mobilitat-internacional/en/incoming-students/information-students-other-universities/online-acceptance-application-data-registration-procedures-and-documents/erasmus-icm/calls - Upload all supporting documents and complete the Learning Agreement or Research Plan proposal (indicate courses or research activities to be done at UB and recognition at Jimma University).
- Sign the application online (click “SIGN THE APPLICATION” / tick the confirmation box and update). After signing you will receive a registration number by email. Signing is mandatory — unsigned applications will not be accepted.
- Jimma University will perform eligibility checks and submit nominations; UB will evaluate and confirm final selection.
Required documents for master’s students
- Current academic transcript (master’s and, if required, bachelor results).
- Proof of language proficiency: certificate or official transcript demonstrating at least B2 in English OR B1 in Spanish/Catalan
- Completed Learning Agreement (study programme at UB) or study plan.
- Signed application form (online).
Required documents for PhD students
- Academic records of bachelor and master programmes.
- Proof of language proficiency: B2 in English OR B1 in Spanish/Catalan (
- Pre-acceptance letter from a UB professor and acceptance by the coordinator of the home doctoral programme.
- Curriculum vitae (CV).
- Research plan for the mobility (including current status of doctoral project).
- Any additional documents requested by Jimma University.
Additional support and inclusion
- Students with fewer opportunities may be eligible for an extra allowance (up to 250 EUR/month). Additional costs linked to special needs or disabilities may be covered upon justified request and documentation (certified disability ≥33% or accredited condition).
- Scholarships are not compatible with other Erasmus+ grants for the same mobility.
Obligations of selected students
- Obtain the required visa for Spain.
- Carry out the mobility according to agreed dates and the Learning Agreement/Research Plan.
- Complete Erasmus+ documentation before, during and after the mobility (Grant Agreement, Learning Agreement, arrival certificate, mobility certificate, online final assessment, etc.).
- Respect UB and Jimma University rules. Serious breaches may lead to withdrawal of funding.
