College Dean Bio

Dr. Solomon Tulu  Tadesse is the dean of Jimma University College of Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine (JUCAVM) and Associate Professor of Horticulture and Organic Agriculture in the Department of Horticulture and Plant Science at Jimma University College of Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine (JUCAVM). He is one of the top highly profiled and experienced professionals in Horticulture and Plant Science, and he is one of the main founding members of the then-Jimma University College of Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine (JUCAVM) during the unification of different colleges to create Jimma University. He has served in various administrative positions, both as the Head of the former College Research and Farm Sites and the current Income Generation Unit, Director of the Post Graduate and Research office of the College. Dr. Solomon obtained both his Master’s and PhD degrees from  Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands, in Horticulture and Organic Agriculture, respectively. His career at Jimma University has spanned different activities at the University level as well as at the College level. Dr. Solomon is actively involved in research related to agriculture with an emphasis on horticulture, organic agriculture, climate-smart agriculture, agroecology, etc.  Dr. Solomon is also the top leader of different projects funded by international donors, for instance, CASCAPE, KOICA, JICA, etc. Dr. Solomon has published in peer-reviewed journals and has attended many conferences at both local and international levels.
