Colorful First Round Graduation Ceremony held at JU

On the 30th of June, 2018 JU held a very colorful graduation ceremony in the presence of members of the university senate, other invited guest and families of the graduates at the Mini Stadium of the main campus. A total of 2182 students have completed their study and graduated at the ceremony of which 626 are at Masters, Specialty certificate and PHD levels while 1556 were graduated at BA level. Of all the graduates 543 were female.

Job opportunities before a graduation day: Jimma University conducted a job fair

Jimma University Career Development and Entrepreneurship Center in collaboration with ethiojobs/Dereja.com conducted job fair on June, 16, 2018 at main campus mini stadium. More than 10 local, national and international participated in the event. The event was also attended by JU’s top management including JU president, Vice Presidents, College Deans, and Directors of various offices. 

JU community has been grieved by the death of its prominent veteran staff Dr. Tekelsion W/Mariam, an Associate Professor of Pediatrics

Dr.Tekletsion passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home town Adama and the funeral ceremony took place at Saint Gebriel Cathedral a day after. A lot of people attended the funeral ceremony: government officials, his colleagues, friends, students, neighbors and relatives.

Delegates from Jimma University visited Erasmus Medical Center in the Netherlands

The visit was held on June 1st, 2018 by Mr. Kora Tushune, V/P for Business & Development of JU and Dr. Essayas Gudina, CEO of the Jimma University Medical Center. The main focus of the visit was to discuss on how Erasmus MC Cancer Institute would help JU to establish and strengthen oncology and radiotherapy services at its hospital. The team from the Erasmus MC was led by Professor Luca Incrocci, Professor of Genito-Urinary Radiotherapy at Erasmus MC Cancer Institute.
